How to write LinkedIn hooks that stop the scroll

On LinkedIn, your first two lines are the most important part of your post. They are the only part visible before the reader has to click 'see more'. If your hook doesn't stop the scroll, the rest of your post doesn't exist.

Three simple frameworks for scroll-stopping hooks

  • The Curiosity Gap: State a result but hide the mechanism. (e.g. 'We grew our pipeline by 40% using a simple 2-step sequence. Here is the framework...')
  • The Contrarian Hook: State a belief that goes against common wisdom. (e.g. 'Most cold email advice will get your domain blacklisted in 2026. Here is why...')
  • The Direct Value Hook: Lead with a clear, immediate lesson. (e.g. 'I analyzed 50,000 LinkedIn posts. Here are the 5 hooks that consistently got 4x engagement...')
